What does the Faculty’s vision Transforming Health for Everyone mean to you as a resident doctor?
The Faculty of Medicine has been an international powerhouse in the domains of clinical medicine, education and health research for decades. Its vision demonstrates a concerted effort to focus the Faculty’s efforts towards meaningful changes to how people can improve their health. From the development of new surgical technologies to building infrastructure for teaching and research — it beckons sweeping change and a perceptible difference to the way care is delivered and the impact that care has on the people of B.C. and beyond.
What’s your favourite part about training in the community you’re in?
As neurosurgery residents, we are lucky to call Vancouver General Hospital our home. It is a storied institution in the world of medicine that not only has been a driving force behind incredible medical discovery, but also a bastion of hope for the people of B.C. Our colleagues throughout the hospital take great pride in serving the entirety of the province and this sense of stewardship is palpable. This translates to an incredible team spirit pouring through the halls and I count myself fortunate to work amongst others who care so deeply about providing the best care possible.
