UBC faculty of medicine researchers are among the recipients of new federal funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
The funding, through SSHRC’s Insight Grant and Insight Development Grant programs, enables scholars to further our collective understanding of individuals and societies, and advance solutions to societal challenges.
Faculty of medicine researchers received awards for projects in key areas of social importance including infant learning and 2SLGBTQ+ Indigenous peoples’ experiences. They are among 83 projects led by UBC researchers awarded a collective $11.5 million.
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced that a total of $123.1 million in federal research funding has been awarded through 503 Insight Grants and 590 Insight Development Grants to researchers working in social sciences and humanities disciplines at institutions across Canada.
