Six UBC faculty of medicine members have been recognized by the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) 2023 Certificate of Merit Awards and Rising Star — Certificate of Excellence Awards.

Dr. Meera Anand
Years 1 and 2 Family Practice Co-Director, Vancouver Fraser Medical Program
Dr. Anand has made innovative contributions to teaching, curriculum development, assessment, education leadership and research across the education continuum in UBC distributed programs — impacting early medical students to family medicine residents to clinical preceptors.
Carolyn Canfield
Adjunct Professor, Department of Family Practice
Ms. Canfield’s leadership, generosity and dedication have allowed UBC to create new patient roles in medical education. Her collaborative success relies on her own eagerness to learn. She enjoys the challenge of joining learners and colleagues to realize a deeper appreciation of patient experiences, values and expectations.
Dr. Harpinder Nagi
Director, Undergraduate Education, Department of Medicine
Dr. Nagi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM). He completed his Certificate in Medical Education and his Diploma in Medical Education at the University of Dundee. He is currently serving as Director, Undergraduate Education Program. He continues to contribute to scholarly work focused on improving the educational experience of students, residents and fellows in the GIM ambulatory setting.

Dr. Helena Bentley

Dr. Bentley’s advocacy, leadership and commitment to medical education have helped to facilitate the transition to Competence by Design in diagnostic radiology for residents nationally.
Jeffrey Ding
Undergraduate, MD Undergraduate Program (Class of 2024)
Jeffrey is an industrious and passionate third-year medical student who has made great strides in tackling issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). He has demonstrated great leadership in addressing disparities and continues to be an active advocate for EDI in medical education.
Dr. Haaris Khan
Graduate Student, Master of Health Sciences (Class of 2023)
Dr. Khan is an extremely hard-working student that is greatly involved in the community. He is a strong academic student, researcher, and health advocate that has made a large difference at a local and national level.
