Dr. Taunton, a Professor in the Division of Sports Medicine and Director of the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, was the Chief Medical Officer for the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. Dr. McCormack, an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics, was Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Olympic team in 2010, and this year served as Medical Director for the Canadian Olympic Committee, a new position created to handle higher-level issues.
“There are great rewards in helping someone maximize their potential and succeed on the world stage,” Dr. McCormack wrote to the CMAJ.
