Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC

Seventy-five years ago, UBC’s Faculty of Medicine welcomed its first 60 medical students. From the very beginning, the Faculty has played an integral role in medical education and research in British Columbia, transforming health in every corner of the province, across Canada and around the world.

Today, we are one of the world’s leading medical schools, home to a community of over 24,500 faculty, staff and learners working across a vast array of health disciplines.

The Faculty’s 75th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on this remarkable journey and celebrate the incredible contributions of our people — past and present.

It’s also an opportunity to look forward and think big. What are the opportunities and challenges we should be thinking about over the next 10 years and beyond?

Together, let’s imagine the future of medicine at UBC and across B.C.

Join us for a series of special events around the province, beginning January 2025. Each event will feature an interactive panel discussion with faculty, staff and learners, as well as health partners from urban, rural and Indigenous communities across the province. You will also be invited to participate in an engagement activity. A lively networking reception will follow.

Learn more about the community events below. All faculty, staff, learners, alumni and health partners are welcome.
