Mathew Farrer, Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics, has been spotlighted as “Researcher of the Month” by the Canadians for Health Research. Each month, the Canadians for Health Research nominate one scientist conducting some of the most interesting research in Canada today.
Dr. Farrer has made several influential strides in his research in neurogenetics — most notably his work identifying genetic mutations that cause late-onset of Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Farrer is confident that in less than 10 years, possibly even 5, this research will lead to effective treatments.
