Kevin Eva, a Professor in the Department of Medicine, received the 2013 John P. Hubbard Award from the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
The award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the pursuit of excellence in the field of evaluation in medicine.
The award was presented to Dr. Eva at the Annual Meeting of the NBME Membership on April 4, 2013 in Philadelphia.
Dr. Eva was recognized for his leadership in assessment innovation and scholarship. He created, psychometrically assessed, sustained and monitored the Multiple Mini Interview, designed for the assessment of individuals for entry into undergraduate medicine. His work in other assessment areas includes the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, Team Observed Structured Clinical Encounters, and in-training evaluation reports.
Dr. Eva is the Director of Education Research and Scholarship in the UBC Department of Medicine, Founding Co-director of the Maastricht-Canadian Master’s in Health Professional Education Program, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship, and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Medical Education.
In recognition of his contributions to medical education, Dr. Eva has received significant national and international awards from organizations such as the Medical Council of Canada, Canadian Association for Medical Education, and Asia-Pacific Medical Education Conference.
