
Dr. Adele Diamond
Adele Diamond, Professor in the Canada Research Chair in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at UBC’s Department of Psychiatry has been recognized for two awards.
Dr. Diamond receives the Urie Bronfenbrenner Award for Lifetime Contributions to Developmental Psychology in the Service of Science and Society from the American Psychological Association. She was also ranked #13 of the 30 Most Influential Neuroscientists Alive Today by Online Psychology Degree and “Health Professional of the Year” by the Women’s Radio Network.
Dr. Diamond’s work on the genetic disorder Phenylketonuria (PKU) has changed medical guidelines worldwide and improved the lives of children and her series of papers on neurobiological and clinical differences in various forms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are well-received by doctors and parents. Her work with children is based on a “Yes, You Can” premise: even if a child appears incapable of doing or understanding something, posing a question differently or presenting a concept in a new way can help them to succeed.
