Describe what you do in two or three sentences.
I work as a medical laboratory technologist at Lions Gate hospital. As part of the healthcare system, we analyze patient specimens and ensure care providers receive quality results that will better patient care.
What led you to your current position?
A love for working with technical instruments and, at the same time, wanting to be part of the healthcare system and participating in patient care.
What is your favourite memory from your time at UBC?
The small and hands-on class in the BMLSc really pushes us to learn from our cohort. Aside from understanding the value of teamwork, being able to participate in various laboratory techniques has really facilitated my learning and understanding of the subjects.
What advice would you give to students in the BMLSc program?
Enjoy the presence and the company of your classmates. Keeping up with classwork and never being too shy to ask questions are the keys to success.
What does a healthy community look like to you?
Canada is a country of multiculturalism, so a healthy community to me is where people, including foreign and Indigenous, are caring and accepting for each other’s mental and physical state and all striving to make everyone better.
