Describe what you do in two or three sentences.
Currently, I am finishing my Pediatric Emergency Fellowship at BC Children’s Hospital and I am a locum Emergency Physician at Royal Columbian Hospital. Starting this July, I will work as a staff Emergency Physician split between Royal Columbian and BC Children’s.
What led you to your current position?
After losing a younger brother to cancer, I always dreamed of working in Pediatrics. Training in both Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine allows me to work and teach across a variety of settings, furthering Pediatric Emergency care for kids all across BC.
What is your favourite memory from your time at UBC?
My month of rural family medicine! I matched with a good friend and together we learned to suture on real patients, were “on call”, and camped down the road from the clinic for the month (much to our preceptors’ surprise sometime later).
What advice would you give to students in the Vancouver Fraser Medical Program?
It may be hard to believe but not all of your life is or will be medicine. Ensure you make regular time for your friends, family, and other passions. It turns out, the brain works best with this balance too!
What does a healthy community look like to you?
Sharing of delicious food, conversation, and time with those around you.
