Carolyn Gotay, a Professor and Canadian Cancer Society Chair in Cancer Primary Prevention at the School of Population and Public Health, and Kendall Ho, a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, have been elected as Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS).
Fellowship in the CAHS is one of the highest honours in the Canadian health sciences communities.
Dr. Gotay is the Director of the Cancer Prevention Centre, and she also holds an appointment at the BC Cancer Agency. Her long career in cancer prevention and control research includes leadership experience in academia and in the community. She has published more than 175 manuscripts and has received national and international support for her work.

As the founding Director of the eHealth Strategy Office, Dr. Ho initiated the eHealth Young Innovators Summer Camp, the “BC Guidelines” mobile application, and the Knowledge Studio at UBC Hospital.
Dr. Ho is also a collaborator with the World Health Organization eHealth Observatory, Executive Director of the Technology Enabled Knowledge Translation Investigative Centre (TEKTIC) interdisciplinary research team in B.C., and a member of the Board of Directors of Canada’s Health Informatics Association.
The new Fellows were inducted September 19, 2013 at the CAHS Annual General Meeting in Ottawa.

Kendall Ho
