- Dr. Gisèle Bourgeois-Law was appointed Faculty Liaison, Centre for Health Education Scholarship – Island Medical Program effective June 1, 2012 to May 31, 2015.
- Dr. Robert McMaster was reappointed Associate Dean, Research, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute effective July 1, 2012 to December 31, 2014.
- Dr. Graydon Meneilly was reappointed Head, Department of Medicine effective July 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013.
- Dr. Geoffrey Payne is extended as the Interim Regional Associate Dean, Northern BC effective to June 30, 2012 and was reappointed Assistant Dean, Northern Medical Program effective July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015.

Faculty of Medicine Election: Vote for Committee Representatives
Election of representatives to the Faculty of Medicine Standing Committees for the 2012-2013 academic year by voting members of Faculty ends on Monday, June 4, 2012. The committees which require election are the MD Undergraduate Admissions Policy Advisory Committee and the Research Council.

WordPress Training Sessions
The Faculty of Medicine is offering training sessions to learn how to use UBC’s hosted WordPress service – an easy to use website content management system which is free for UBC faculties and units. The training sessions are July 18 and August 8 from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm in Room HA 045C, Henry Angus Building. Please sign-up online to attend a session.

Call for Nominations: UBC Vancouver President’s Staff Awards: Deadline Extended to June 15
Nominations for the 2012 President’s Staff Awards are currently being accepted, and the deadline for submitting nomination packages has been extended to Friday, June 15 at 4:30 pm. The President’s Staff Awards recognize the contributions to UBC and personal achievements of staff at the Vancouver campus in five categories: Leadership and Creativity, Enhancing the UBC Experience, Global Citizenship, Emerging Leadership, and Advancing Diversity and Inclusion. Any UBC staff, faculty or student can nominate eligible UBC staff members.
Call for UBC Okanagan Student Volunteers: President’s Advisory Committee on Student Discipline: Deadline June 15
The University Counsel invites interested UBC Okanagan students to apply for positions on the President’s Advisory Committee on Student Discipline, which deals with cases of academic misconduct, for the term of May 25, 2012 to August 31, 2013. To ensure that a broad range of students are represented on the Committee, the University Counsel is inviting students who are interested in serving on the Committee to submit their names for consideration. Application information is available online.
Call for Applications: Academic Director, UBC Learning Exchange: Deadline June 29
The University is seeking an Academic Director for the Learning Exchange. The Learning Exchange exemplifies UBC’s commitment to community engagement and is located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. The Academic Director will serve as the academic champion for the Learning Exchange, taking a lead role in ensuring that the Learning Exchange is linked effectively with UBC’s academic mission. The appointment is a 20% secondment internal to the University and will be for a minimum of two years with the possibility of reappointment.

The Embassy of the United States of America in Ottawa will be accepting grant applications on a rolling basis until July 31, 2012 or until funds are exhausted. Expenditures of grant funding may take place over a one-to-three year period of time.

External Review of Green College, UBC
The Faculty of Graduate Studies is arranging for a review of Green College in June of this year. The review is being carried out in conjunction with the Faculty’s consideration of Dr. Mark Vessey’s reappointment as Principal of the College. All members of the University are invited to provide written comments relevant to the matters under review. Please forward your comments to the review coordinator, Dr. Herbert Rosengarten, at hjr@exchange.ubc.ca. Your comments will be held in strict confidence and forwarded to the members of the review team. The deadline for receipt of comments is Friday, June 22, 2012. UBC is not signing a license agreement with Access Copyright
After extensive review, the University of British Columbia has decided not to sign a license agreement with Access Copyright (AC) based on the model that it has recently negotiated with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC).
