Budgeting

In order to minimize debt load upon graduation students should monitor a personal budget and reduce expenses where possible.

The Faculty of Medicine’s Student Financial Assistance Officer is available to assist MD undergraduates with program budgeting and individual financial planning for their education.

Financial Workshops are held during the summer before the Fall session starts. These workshops are used to teach students the step by step process of how to apply for student loans, information about student lines of credit, how and when to apply for UBC Bursaries and scholarships.

They also include information on what to financially expect and how to budget while being in medical school for 4 years. These workshops can also be done via telephone conference for students that are out of province. Please contact the Student Financial Assistance Officer to reserve your seat in the workshop.
