Researcher: Dr. Torsten Nielsen
Interests: Dr. Nielsen is a clinician-scientist pathologist, affilitated with VCHRI and BCCA, and based at VGH. His research is based in translating gene expression profiles into improved understanding of tumor biology, into new diagnostic tools and predictive clinical tests that guide improved treatment, and into rational targeted experimental therapeutics for cancer. Dr. Nielsen’s particular focus is in the areas of breast cancer and of musculoskeletal tumors (sarcomas). He is also Associate Director of the MD/PhD program and an affiliate member of the departments of Orthopaedics and of Urological Sciences.
