| Researcher: | Dr. Martin J. McKeown, BEng, MD, FRCP(C) |
| Interests: | Dr. McKeown is interested in various aspects of motor control, especially as it affects people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). His lab is particularly interested in compensatory mechanisms that may ameliorate some of the deficits in PD. In order to investigate these questions, they employ functional MRI, EEG, EMG and immersive environments (“virtual reality”). This research requires knowledge in the fundamental neuroscience of human motor control, but also familiarity with signal processing and image processing. Some clinical knowledge is also essential so that the research questions addressed are clinically-relevant and the research results can be seamlessly translated from the lab to the medical clinic.
Dr. McKeown currently teaches the Motor Block of the requisite Neuroscience graduate course,NS501. |
