A competition for travel awards for MD undergraduate students is available to assist with expenses related to participation in an official conference or symposium at which the student presents a paper or poster. All students who have a supervisor with a primary appointment in the Faculty of Medicine are eligible. Applicants must be an MD undergraduate at the time of travel and must currently be enrolled in the program.
Please note that MD/PhD Students should not apply for this competition. The MD/PhD Program office oversees a travel award nomination process for MD/PhD students. For more information, contact the Program Office at ubcmdphd@interchange.ubc.ca.

This competition will be for travel occurring from March 1, 2012 – March 15, 2013.
Details of Award
Awards of up to $500 will be granted to help cover the cost of travel, accommodation and conference registration fees. All travel expenses must conform to UBC travel policies: http://www.travel.ubc.ca. The number of awards available per competition is subject to the availability of funds as well as the number and quality of applications. Priority will be given to applicants who have not been prior recipients of a Faculty of Medicine Travel Award.
If the number of applicants is such that the total funding requested exceeds the funding available, applications will be evaluated for eligibility and awarded via a lottery system.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be registered in the UBC MD Undergraduate Program at both the time of application and the time of travel.
- The presentation must be on research preformed during the applicant’s time in the MD Undergraduate Program.

Notes on the online application form: The application form must be emailed in its original format (i.e. as a fillable PDF form). There are some known issues with PDF documents of this type and thus the following suggestions may be of assistance:
- Use a pc (not a mac) to complete the application form.
- Save a blank copy of the application form to your computer and then open and complete the form in a PDF program (as opposed to completing it in your internet browser). Some browser PDF plugins will not allow you to save a copy of the completed form.
