What?
A service provided by the Faculty of Medicine that:
- Includes editing and formatting of grant proposals
- Ensures that the proposal is organized so that ideas are logically developed
- Ensures that the proposal adheres to agency guidelines
- Does not involve administrative tasks, such as data entry, budget help, or photocopying
Why?
- Makes grant proposals “reader friendly”, encouraging reviewers to “read on”
- Complements Internal Review
- Helps to improve funding success rates from Federal and Provincial agencies
Who?
- Available to all Faculty Investigators, whether at the Point Grey site or at the hospital sites
- Mandatory for New-new Investigators and all Investigators submitting Salary Awards
- Strongly encouraged for all Investigators
- An Investigator must have a faculty appointment or a pending faculty appointment
- An Investigator must be submitting a Research Grant or Salary Award application to a major Provincial or National peer-review-based agency
How?
- Any on- or off-campus Faculty of Medicine Investigators – contact Dr. Elizabeth Cheu
- 8 weeks before Agency deadline, please send a notification email containing the name of the PI and number of co-applicants, grant title or topic, agency and competition, deadline, PI academic rank (please say if pending) and department, and whether PI has held or currently holds peer-reviewed funds (e.g. from CIHR, NSERC, MSFHR)
- 5 weeks before Agency deadline, submit full proposal
- 3 weeks before Agency deadline, your proposal will be returned
- Any CFRI or C&W investigator – the Research Technology and Development Office can help you – please contact to discuss preferred deadlines
NB: Although best efforts will be employed, we cannot guarantee GD for those not adhering to the set deadlines. Without mandatory GD, the Executive Associate Dean, Research reserves the right to deny the application.
