UBC Internal Letter of Intent (LOI) for 2014 LEF/NIF Competition
UBC Internal LOI Deadline: Monday, September 30, 2013
The Institutional Programs Office provides UBC researchers with comprehensive support in applying for research infrastructure funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
The CFI has announced their intent to launch a funding program allocating ~$328 million that is similar to past Leading Edge Fund/New Initiatives Fund (LEF /NIF) competitions although details are not yet available. We anticipate that the CFI will issue a “Draft Call for Proposals” in the fall of 2013 with a mid-2014 proposal submission date.
UBC requires that all faculty members interested in accessing infrastructure funding through this program complete a Letter of Interest. The deadline for submission of this Internal LOI is September 30, 2013. The purpose of this LOI is simply to help the UBC Institutional Programs Office to “get a read” on researcher interest in the 2014 competition. We will not be using the LOI to vet proposals or pre-select proposals. It is for information gathering purposes only. Once we have the LOI information from researchers, and the full “Call for Proposals” and “Institutional Cap” (allowed submission ceiling) from CFI in hand, we will be developing a process for moving forward and the full details of that process will be shared with the UBC Research community.
The LOI can be accessed at the Institutional Programs Office web page: http://www.research.ubc.ca/vpri/institutional-programs-office under the heading “2014 LEF/NIF COMPETITION (CWL)” using your CWL to login. If you have any difficulties please contact the IPO (see below).
Please complete the LOI and email a copy to the Institutional Programs Office (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a cc: copy to Michael Blades, CFI Coordinator, (email@example.com) no later than September 30, 2013.
